TEAM MANAGER INFORMATION GUIDE

Thank you for registering your team for a OneHockey tournament!  We are confident that your team will thoroughly enjoy their experience and want to return to OneHockey events for years to come!  Please share this event with other teams in your organization – we have so many tournaments to choose from, and we see teams participate from all over North America, Mexico, and Europe.

We realize you will have many questions regarding the tournament experience, so below is information that will guide you through the OneHockey experience – please read carefully and follow the steps.

1.  REGISTRATION All teams must submit a deposit at the time of registration, or your team can pay in full.  PLEASE DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION BEFORE YOU SUBMIT IT – ONEHOCKEY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TEAMS THAT REGISTER FOR THE INCORRECT DIVISION.

  • Your team is all set and fully registered if you pay in full.
  • If your organization only pays by check, please send it right away.  Your team is not considered fully registered until a deposit/payment is received.  Checks can be sent to:
  • OneHockey – 24312 Dale Drive – Laguna Hills, CA 92653 (make sure you tell us what team you are with (age, level, division, and tournament).

2.  TOURNAMENT START TIME:  OneHockey tournaments begin at 7:00 am on the first day of the tournament, regardless if it’s during the school year or not.  ALL teams have the chance of playing as early as 7:00 am.  Local teams can begin early, traveling teams can begin early, younger teams can begin early, and high school teams can begin early.  IF YOUR TEAM IS UNABLE TO PLAY AS EARLY AS 7:00 AM ON FRIDAY, THEN THIS IS NOT THE TOURNAMENT FOR YOUR TEAM.  YOU HAVE AGREED IN OUR WAIVER TO BE AVAILABLE TO PLAY THAT EARLY AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS IF YOUR TEAM RECEIVES THE SCHEDULE AND CAN NOT PLAY.  TELL YOUR FAMILIES NOW THAT THEY NEED TO BE AVAILABLE SO THERE ARE ZERO SURPRISES.

3.  HOTEL INFORMATION:  OneHockey Tournaments are “Stay to Play”, meaning that if a player resides outside of a 70-mile radius from the primary arena, they are required to stay at a participating hotel offered through our 3rd Party Hotel Partner, EventConnect.  The Team Manager or Primary Contact will be responsible for setting up the hotel block, distributing it to families, and making sure all families are booked through our 3rd Party Hotel Partner.  Teams who fail to secure their hotel rooms through this method of using our partner will be removed from the tournament WITHOUT REFUND.  Room blocks made directly with the hotel DO NOT COUNT.  Rosters will be compared to the hotel bookings prior to the tournament and any families who do not use the EventConnect system for their hotel reservations will not be permitted to participate.

Once a room block has been created, there will be an expiration date, so families must book before it expires.  After it expires, the rooms are returned to the hotel and may not be available.  Make your room blocks as soon as you register for the best selection and make sure families book right away before the block expires.

No discounts, coupons, rooms booked on points, or other hotel rates may be used by tournament guests.

**We do not offer comp hotel rooms for coaches unless there are MULTIPLE teams from one organization attending and all requests for comp rooms must go through Sebastien Fortier and Sharon Cullen.*  THERE ARE SEVERAL LOCATIONS WHERE WE DO NOT RECEIVE COMP ROOMS AND THIS INCLUDES LAS VEGAS NO MATTER HOW MANY TEAMS ARE TRAVELING FROM THE SAME ORGANIZATION.

4. OneHockey hosts two types of tournaments – USA Hockey sanctioned and AAU Licensed.  Please make sure you check which type of tournament your team will be attending so you know what documentation is required.

  • For USA HOCKEY SANCTIONED Tournaments – your team will be required to submit a digitally approved USA Hockey or Hockey Canada roster at least two weeks prior to the tournament.  Please send it to sharonc@onehockey.com.
  • For AAU LICENSED Tournaments – If your team does not have an AAU roster, you will need to register your club ($30), team staff ($55), and players ($20) so that the team and players have the required amount of insurance to participate.  Instructions on how to register are below but only begin your registration once your division has been confirmed 100%.

5.  ROSTERS – Only players listed on the approved rosters may participate in sanctioned events. If it comes to OneHockey staff’s attention that there is a player(s) on ice that is not on the submitted roster, the team can be disqualified from the tournament. Teams are not permitted to roster players that are “playing down”.  For example, players considered AAA cannot play AA,  players that are considered AA cannot play A, and older players cannot play with a younger division. AAU rosters are required and will not be considered “accepted” if it is brought to OneHockey’s attention that there are “playing down”.  Teams who knowingly “play down” a player, can be disqualified from the tournament. Rosters are LOCKED as soon as the first game begins.  No players can be added after that first game begins. All players on the ice MUST be on the online roster submitted to OneHockey.  There will be no roster additions after the start of the first game.  If it comes to OneHockey’s attention that there is/was a player on the ice that is not on the submitted roster, that game will result in a forfeit for that team.

6.  TEAM TRAVEL:  DO NOT have your team make their flight arrangements until your division has been confirmed 100%. OneHockey reserves the right to cancel a division up to 60 days prior to the start date of the tournament and will not be responsible for refunding airfare or travel costs associated with a canceled tournament or division. DO NOT MAKE YOUR FLIGHT RESERVATIONS UNTIL YOU EMAIL YOUR ONEHOCKEY SALES REPRESENTATIVE TO CONFIRM THAT YOUR  DIVISION IS 100% FINALIZED.

7.  TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: As soon as the tournament schedule becomes available, it will be posted online under the “Tournament Schedule” tab.  We distribute the schedule as soon as it is finished, which could be up to 1 month in advance or as little as one week in advance.  We make every effort to keep schedule changes to a minimum, but sometimes changes must be made, so please have your team parents keep an eye on this.

8.  TEAM CHECK-IN: When you arrive at the rink, Team Managers should go to the OneHockey Office to check in and receive your Team Gifts. There is no need for individual players to check in. Each player will receive welcome gifts that you will be responsible for distributing.

9.  LOCKER ROOMS: The arena takes care of Locker room assignments.  When you arrive, please check at the front desk or look for the arena schedule boards for locker room assignments, NOT at the OneHockey office.  The Team Manager or Coach is responsible for checking the locker room for cleanliness and damages before you leave. If you experience a damaged locker room when you arrive, please notify the arena so that your team is not penalized.  Any damages or problems with the locker rooms are handled between the arena and team management….not OneHockey.

10.  REFEREES AND SCOREKEEPERS:  OneHockey contracts with local USA Hockey Referee in Chief for all assignments of referees.  Referees are USA Hockey trained and sanctioned. OneHockey does not hire the referees directly and is not responsible if they make a bad call or miss a penalty.  If your team has a concern, OneHockey staff can provide your coach with the name and contact information of the Referee in Chief.

11.  GAME SHEETS:  Team Managers will be provided with a link approximately 2 weeks before the tournament, asking them to enter a team roster online.  These rosters will be uploaded to our website. Additionally, these rosters will be used to pre-print game sheets, so there is no need to bring stickers.  You MUST enter your roster online when provided the link.

After the tournament, go to www.onehockey.com, select the TOURNAMENTS tab, then select PAST EVENTS.  Select your event, go to schedule, and then you can print your game sheets directly from the website.

12.  PLAYER STATS:  For some tournaments, we keep track of player stats, but not all.  We do not keep track of shots on goal.

13.  SCHEDULE AND SCORES: The schedule, scores, and standings will be updated online throughout the tournament on our website.  Additionally, scoreboards will be posted in all primary arenas for viewing.

14.  TOURNAMENT RULES:  Rules for each tournament are posted on the tournament page of our website.

15.  PLAYER OF THE GAME AWARDS: Upon check in, the team manager will receive a Player of the Game Pendant and awards to be used throughout the tournament to recognize outstanding players.  After each game, the coach will select one player from their team in the locker room to receive the pendant and award.  The Player of the Game will hold onto the pendant until the next game is finished, and the coach selects a new player to give the pendant to.  This will continue for all round-robin games.  After your team’s final game, the coach will award the pendant to the Player of the Game that competed the best OVERALL during the tournament.  This player will then be permitted to keep the pendant after the tournament.

16.  LIVE BROADCAST: You will be notified before the tournament if live broadcasting is available for an event.  You can always feel free to check if the arena your game is at offers LiveBarn.

17. MOUTH GUARDS:  All teams must adhere to USA Hockey or Hockey Canada rules for mouthguards.

18. JERSEYS:  The home team is to wear their white jersey UNLESS the away team only has a white jersey. Teams must coordinate to ensure that both teams are not playing with the same color jerseys. If both teams have the same color jersey and no 2nd jersey, one team must wear practice pinnies or turn their jerseys inside out.

19. PRACTICE PUCKS AND WATER BOTTLES:  Please bring your own supply.

20.  TOURNAMENT RETURN POLICY: Team deposits and payments are considered non-refundable. Refunds for entire teams will only be provided if OneHockey cancels the tournament or division your team is registered for. Any mistakes made by the applicant during the registration process shall be construed against the applicant and may disqualify the applicant’s team or individual player from a refund. Any and all modifications to OneHockey’s Return Policy must be made in writing and signed by the applicant AND OneHockey.

21.  CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES – NO PARENTS ON THE ICE:  If your team makes it to the Championship game, PLEASE tell your parents, ONLY PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED ON THE ICE!!  No parents or spectators can come on the ice to take photographs of the players – ZERO EXCEPTIONS. It doesn’t matter if they coach another team, are USA Hockey certified, if they are a professional photographer……it doesn’t matter – zero exceptions.  We could lose our sanctioning, and parents that don’t follow will be escorted out of the arena.

**All live broadcasting of any games is strictly prohibited unless you receive approval from OneHockey.**

Photos and Videos – Rights: By participating in a OneHockey Event, you waive all rights to any photos or videos taken during the tournament. OneHockey may use any photos taken during the tournament weekend for promotional purposes.
