We understand the importance of providing well-organized Hockey tournaments at a reasonable cost. But it’s not just about the price that keeps teams coming back. As coaches, we have a first-hand knowledge of how teams compare in competition, so with practical experience and a superior screening process, teams get “real value” by competing in balanced divisions.
4 Game Guarantee Tournament Format
Six Team Division: Six teams in total make up one division. Each Team will play three games. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, where the first-place Team will play the fourth-place Team, and the second-place Team will play the third-place Team. Winners of the semi-finals advance to the championship game. The 5th and 6th-place teams will play in a consolation game.
Eight Team Division: Eight teams in total make up two divisions, A and B. The four teams in each of the two divisions play each other once, for a total of three games—the top two teams from each division advance to the semifinals. The semi-final games will feature the 1st place Team from A against the 2nd place Team from B, and the 1st place Team from B against the 2nd place Team from A. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the championship. The teams in 3rd and 4th place in each division will cross over to play their last games as a consolation, where the 3rd-place Team from A plays the 3rd-place Team from B, and the 4th-place Team from A plays the 4th-place Team from B.
Hockey Tiebreaking Rules for Advancement to the Semi-Finals
Tiebreaking rules apply since semi-final placement cannot always be determined solely by wins and losses. The following criteria are used to determine which teams will advance to the semifinal round:
Teams receive points: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. The winner of head-to-head, during regular Tournament play, is the Team with the fewest goals scored against during regular Tournament play, and the most goals for during regular Tournament play.
First goal scored in a head-to-head during regular Tournament play, and the fewest penalty minutes taken during regular Tournament play.
The Tournament staff will make a rule.
Game Forfeits – A game forfeited due to a no-show will automatically result in a 1-0 score. The Team causing the forfeit will automatically be
assessed the loss. Games ending prematurely due to a referee decision, or a Team leaving the ice, will automatically end with a loss being
assessed to the Team causing the forfeit and a win to their opponent, regardless of the score. If the opponent of the forfeiting Team had been
winning, then the score would remain as is; if the opponent were losing, then the score would revert to a 1-0 score. Teams causing forfeits
under these circumstances will not be eligible for semifinal or championship games.
