The 18th annual edition of the Capital Winter Classic will be headquartered at the state-of-the-art Bell Sensplex, where parents can enjoy the action from the comfort of Centre Ice Restaurant & Bar above. We aim to provide teams with their best tournament experience of the season with the Capital Winter Classic. We are pleased to guarantee a four-game minimum for ALL TEAMS in the tournament regardless of level!

The Bell Sensplex is the headquarters for this tournament; however, teams may play games at other local facilities.

 

Hudson Travel Group is the exclusive travel partner for all tournaments hosted by Sensplex facilities. Booking with them is a condition of acceptance for all out of town teams. This will ensure your team the lowest rates on a FULL range of area hotels.

 

We are excited to announce the NHL Season will be underway and the Ottawa Senators will be hosting the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, January 18th at 7:00pm and the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, January 20th at 3:00pm. We will be offering a special team rate for anyone interested in booking tickets. Interested teams must book with Ottawa Senators group sales account manager Shannon Jones at JonesS@ottawasenators.com or by phone at 613-599-0377. Tournament scheduling will accommodate those group tickets purchased through these official channels. Please note that ticket sales will be limited and sold on a first come first serve basis to accommodate tournament scheduling needs.

Format:

 

All teams in all divisions will play a minimum of four (4) games including at least three round-robin games and a guaranteed consolation or playoff game, or four round-robin games plus playoff rounds depending on division size. Body checking is not permitted at any U10 to U13 division. This tournament is for ‘AA’ ‘A’ ‘B’ ‘MD’ & ‘AE’ teams, depending on the centre your team is from. No ALL-STAR or SELECT level teams will be admitted into this tournament, as per HEO Minor regulations.

 

Period Lengths:
U10 B/AA, U11 B/A: 2 x 10, 1 x 12 min stop time
U12 B/AA, U13 B/AA: 1 x 10, 2 x 12 min stop time
U11 A/AA, U12 AA & U13 AA: 3 x 12 min stop time

 

All teams MUST be prepared to start as early as 8:00 am Friday, January 26th.

 

Note that AE, MD, A, and B teams may compete together. At U10 B/A/AA Division all teams from AE to AA are included together. It is recommended for Tier II or strong Tier III competitive teams.
