DONATE TO SICK KIDS

For many Canadian families, SickKids represents hope during some of life’s most difficult moments. Every day, children and their families face challenges far greater than a Hockey game. Through world-class pediatric care, research, and treatment, SickKids helps children focus on what matters most — being kids. Hockey Perspective™ is proud to highlight an organization that has touched the lives of countless hockey families across Canada.

❤️ SickKids: A Place of Hope for Children and Families

Not Every Child Gets the Chance to Play Hockey

Every weekend across North America, millions of children step onto the ice to play the game they love.

They celebrate goals.

They learn life lessons.

They build friendships.

They chase dreams.

For many hockey families, these experiences become part of everyday life.

But not every child gets the chance to play hockey.

Some children are facing challenges far greater than the outcome of a game.

Some are battling serious illnesses.

Some are undergoing treatments that require weeks, months, or even years of care.

Others are simply fighting for the opportunity to feel healthy enough to return to the activities they love.

That is why organizations like SickKids matter.

The Hospital for Sick Children

Located in Toronto, Ontario, The Hospital for Sick Children, commonly known as SickKids, is one of the world’s leading pediatric hospitals.

For more than a century, SickKids has been dedicated to improving the health of children through world-class patient care, research, and education.

Families travel from across Canada and around the world seeking specialized treatment and expertise available at SickKids.

The hospital’s physicians, nurses, researchers, and support staff work tirelessly every day to provide children with the best possible opportunity for healthier futures.

While many people know SickKids for its medical excellence, families who have experienced the hospital firsthand often describe something even more important.

Hope.

More Than a Hospital

For many families, SickKids becomes more than a hospital.

It becomes a lifeline.

Parents arrive facing uncertainty, fear, and difficult questions about their child’s health.

They are met by professionals who not only provide medical treatment but also offer support, compassion, and reassurance during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Every day, children demonstrate incredible courage.

Parents show remarkable strength.

Healthcare professionals dedicate themselves to helping families navigate challenges no family ever expects to face.

It is impossible to witness these experiences without gaining a deeper appreciation for what truly matters.

A Personal Connection

The inspiration behind Hockey Perspective™ comes from a personal experience involving SickKids.

Many years ago, one of my bosses faced a challenge no parent should ever have to endure.

His young daughter developed a serious kidney illness linked to contaminated apple cider purchased at a flea market.

For a period of time, her future was uncertain.

As a parent, he spent countless days at SickKids focused on one thing: helping his daughter recover.

During that difficult period, the Ronald McDonald House program helped support the family and allowed them to remain close during treatment.

I had the opportunity to work alongside him throughout that experience and witnessed firsthand the incredible care, compassion, and dedication provided by the people at SickKids.

The experience left a lasting impression on me.

It reminded me that while hockey is important, there are families facing challenges far greater than any game, tryout, or championship.

It is one of the reasons I became a monthly donor to SickKids and continue supporting the organization today.

Why Hockey Families Should Care

Hockey teaches many important lessons.

Perseverance.

Teamwork.

Commitment.

Resilience.

These same qualities are demonstrated every day by the children and families receiving care at SickKids.

When a child is facing a serious illness, every day requires courage.

Every treatment requires strength.

Every small victory becomes meaningful.

For hockey families, these stories provide an important reminder that perspective matters.

The next time we become frustrated by a difficult game, a missed opportunity, or a disappointing result, it is worth remembering that somewhere a child is fighting a much bigger battle.

Some children are simply hoping for the opportunity to feel well enough to play again.
